Home Brew was founded in 1996 in St. Joseph,
Mo. - where the Pony Express started
and Jesse James ended. The current owners bought Home Brew in 1998. Active
brewers of all types of mead and beer, and dabblers in wine, Chris and Doug
tripled the size of the inventory, moved into a larger facility, and opened
up the mail order and internet markets.
Home Brew is located on South 22nd Street
just a half-mile north of I-229 exit 3 in the Green Hills plaza. We can be
contacted via phone at (816) 233-9688
or our toll-free number: (800)
285-4695, or you can reach us by e-mail.
We pride ourselves on good customer service. In fact, if we can't answer
your questions, we'll find someone who can - even if it means calling long
distance at our expense. We want you to learn about and enjoy home brewing
as much as we do.
Home Brew Supply sponsors the Foamy Express Ryeders, the
St. Joseph home brewing and
vintning club. The Foamy Express Ryeders are registered with the American Homebrewers Association, thus
allowing their membership to participate in AHA-sponsored activities and
competitions. Check the FER
website to see updates for meetings, tastings, and social gatherings.

If you've scrolled down this far, you
must really be into boring company information. Some details about the
company… It was previously operated on the Belt Highway in St. Joseph. It was also originally opened due to a lack of
supplies throughout Northwest
Missouri. Home brewing
is a burgeoning hobby in the Midwest. While other home brew supply places have been
closing down, NW Missouri has seen a resurgence of the beer and wine making
hobbies. Partially due to liberal laws in Missouri regarding home production of beer and wine, this
resurgence had no support mechanism. The part-time home brewing supply
business was rarely open, and the next closest supplier was over 40 miles
away. Since opening, Home Brew Supply's customer base has grown from about
80 or 90 people to over 1000 customers in all 50 states and three foreign
countries. Walk-in customers at the brick and mortar store include folks
from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. Our "quad states" presence has also
been a big factor in garnering broad support for our home brewing club and
their annual competition. Some financial trivia: Our sales growth over four
years has been roughly 50%. We have succeeded in cutting overhead expenses
by nearly 10%. Our costs are very competitive, even though we are not as
big as some of the home brewing stores in the urban areas. Check us out
online, you'll probably find that we're a heck of a nice company to deal
with.
